Department of Fisheries
Within the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MoALI), the Department of Fisheries (DoF) is responsible for the development of the fisheries and aquaculture sector in Myanmar. DoF is the direct implementing partner for all of MYSAP’s activities. The department is comprised of the Director General and Deputy Director General’s office, the Aquaculture Division, the Fishery Management Division, the Research and Development Division, the Directorate of States, Regions and Autonomous Regions, as well as the Administration and Finance Division. The 2,500 DoF staff work to promote domestic production and consumption of aquaculture and fishery resources, contain infectious diseases and zoonosis, ensure livestock quality and safety as well as attract foreign investment to the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
Myanmar Fisheries Federation
The Myanmar Fisheries Federation is a platform that represents approximately 35,000 member companies of its 10 sub-sector associations including the entire value chain from input supply, via farming, to processing and sales of various fishery and aquaculture products.
