On 4 August 2019, the Ministry of Health and Sport held the national central launch of the Nutrition Promotion Month at the Civic Centre in Taunggyi, Shan State (South). Staff of the Myanmar Sustainable Aquaculture Programme (MYSAP), funded by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ) manned a display booth to demonstrate programme activities promoting improved human nutrition, increased dietary diversity and to encourage the eating of fish by pregnant and lactating women and children aged from six months to five years of age in particular.
A variety of information, education and communication (IEC) materials were on display and were disseminated from the MYSAP booth including the recently released MYSAP book “Go Further with Fish”, posters on the benefits of eating fish, and leaflets on integrated small-scale aquaculture and vegetable production.
INLAND MYSAP displayed a rice-fish culture model and organized a nutrition quiz with give-away prizes for correct answers. Several hundred people visited the booth including Dr. Myint Htwe, Union Minister of Ministry of Health and Sport.
